Flow cytometry is increasingly being used in the field of drug discovery. It is a technique that many researchers learn while studying in academia. But for any researcher hoping to transition from academia to the commercial sector, there are significant differences in its application to be aware of, especially relating to regulation and the increased need for standardization. Similarly, while many researchers may be familiar with the underlying concepts of flow cytometry, their experience with the instrumentation may be limited to those used as part of their academic research. Just as domestic vehicles are not suitable for transporting bulk goods, an instrument that performs well in an academic setting may not be suitable for environments where the time of skilled researchers is even more precious.
Join Michelle Campbell-Ryan, PhD, to gain the benefit of her experience in both the academic and commercial sectors. She will explain the influence of regulatory issues affecting flow cytometry at the practical level and share useful resources for anyone who would like to acquire a deeper understanding of regulation in drug discovery. Gain insights into how to improve the rigor of flow cytometry experiments to meet the higher level of standardization needed in drug discovery.
